1. Jesus explained to his apostles after his resurrection the things concerning himself in the Old Testament.
2. This confirmed his understanding of himself as the fulfillment of Old Testament Messianic prophecy, the Levitical priesthood, the moral teachings, and the sal vation promises of God concerning the Kingdom of God.
B. Second Movement: The apostles commentary on Jesus’ meaning in the New Testament writings, especially the book of Acts
1. They understood what Jesus said and provided us commentary on the meaning of Jesus’ explanation in their teaching and preaching.
2. The Epistles and Acts contain quotations which reveal their commentary on Jesus’ explanations.
C. Third Movement: The Church’s application of the Apostle’s commentary of Jesus’ understanding of the Scripture
1. We embrace the apostolic tradition and teaching as they enable us as believers to know the relationship of the Old Testament to the New Testament.
2. One of the most significant truths regarding the promise is the inclusion of Gentiles in the covenant promise of Abraham.
3. We as Christian leaders and ministers must understand precisely and carefully what God’s intent is in including Gentiles in this salvation.
