6. The Veil of the Temple represents the body of Jesus Christ torn and broken for us.

a. Made of the same materials as the hanging of the gate but had cherubim embroidered in it

b. Supported by four pillars, made of acacia wood overlaid with gold

c. Represents the death of our Lord Jesus, Heb. 10.19-20 (i.e., only way to the Holy of holies [John 10.7-9], its rending a type of the death of Christ, Isa. 53.10)

Heb. 10.19-20 Therefore, brothers, since we have

confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, [20] by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh.

d. This is my body which is broken for you, Matt. 26.26.

7. The Ark of the Covenant represents the communion with God, the presence of God abiding with us as a result of our faith in Christ.

a. Exod. 25.10-16: a chest (Hebrew word for ark is “chest”), made of wood, covered with pure gold inside and out

b. Four golden rings at the corners, two on each side, through which staves of wood covered with gold were used to bear it along

c. Its contents

(1) Unbroken tablets of the Covenant, the Law

(2) The golden pot of manna

(3) Aaron’s rod that budded in the wilderness
