A Biblical Vision, Part I: Mastering the Old Testament Witness to Christ
Session 5: Character Types of the Prophet Ministry, Pr iesthood, and Kingship of Jesus Chr ist 83
Moses was content to dwell with the man, and he gave Moses his daughter Zipporah.
b. Jesus, Eph. 5.30-32 – because we are members of his body. [31] “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” [32] This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the Church.
6. Learned obedience through suffering
a. Moses, Heb. 11.24-26 – By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, [25] choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. [26] He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.
b. Jesus, Heb. 5.8 – Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.
7. Mediated a covenant between the people and God, Heb. 8.5-6 – They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” [6] But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.
8. Reflected the glory of the Father in his person (by contrast)
