live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. [21] I do not nullify the grace of God, for if justification were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose. c. We can now boast in the Cross of Jesus alone; no moral command can provide us with the necessary righteousness to create or sustain a relationship with the Lord, Gal. 6.14 – But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. d. We are liberated in Christ to care for our brothers and sisters in Christian love, Gal. 5.13-14 – For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. [14] For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” a. Persistent conflict between the flesh and the Holy Spirit, Gal. 5.16-17 – But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. [17] For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. b. The deeds of flesh are plain for all to see, Gal. 5.19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual im morality, impurity, sensuality, [20] idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dis sensions, divisions, [21] envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you 5. We are free from the tyranny of the sin nature, the flesh, to now live in the power of the Holy Spirit.
