A Biblical Vision, Part II: Mastering the New Testament Witness to Christ
Ses s i on 7: The Reve l at i on of John: The Consummat i on of Al l Th i ngs i n Chr i s t 239
2. In what ways does my walk with Christ reflect the intensity of expectancy and perspective that emerges from an encounter with the risen Christ portrayed in the book of Revelation? (Cf. Rev. 22.12-13 – “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. [13] I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”) 3. Which of the messages of the risen Christ to the churches in Asia Minor speaks most directly to my experience and life today? What is the Lord saying to me regarding the changes he would like to see me take in my life for his glory? 4. Am I ready to meet the risen Christ? Is my life being lived as a living sacrifice to God, one that is lived for him who loved me and gave himself for me? Gal. 2.19-21 – For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. [20] It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. [21] I do not nullify the grace of God, for if justification were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
1 Cor. 9.24-27 Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. [25] Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. [26] So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. [27] But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
B. Connection to your ministry in the city and the church
1. What do I detect the Holy Spirit is saying to me regarding my own witness and service on behalf of the risen Savior today? What new ministry, service, good work, or outreach might he be asking me to get involved with right now?
2. How can I make the teaching of Jesus Christ more direct, concise, simple, and clear in every part of my personal witness and/or any formal ministry of which I am a part?
