Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, the Levites, helped the people to understand the Law, while the people remained in their places. [8] They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.

D. Practical concerns

1. Get a good solid translation that makes sense to you as you read and feed upon the Word.

2. Make realistic goals to set aside specific times to study, memorize, and meditate upon the Word of God.

3. Use the Lectionary (www.lectionary.org) and “through the Bible in one year” plans to help keep you on the big picture of Scripture.

4. Write texts on cards and take them with you to review throughout the day.

5. Be faithful in the teaching ministry of your church, taking notes on the preaching and teaching, and discussing their meaning at every opportunity.

6. Find a partner and set goals to study, memorize, and meditate together.
