5. Moments of need in solemn convocation, Joel 2.15-16 – Blow the trumpet in Zion; consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly; [16] gather the people. Consecrate the congre gation; assemble the elders; gather the children, even nursing infants. Let the bridegroom leave his room, and the bride her chamber.
D. Practical concerns
1. Find a time and place to pray consistently to the Lord regarding your needs, your pastor and church body, family and friends, and the things the Lord lays on your heart.
2. You may wish to keep a journal to track your prayers and God’s answers.
3. Incorporate listening into your prayer life, for guidance, insight, words from him for self and others.
4. Join or start a prayer group, with a focus, covenant, and process.
5. Set aside special seasons for prayer to pray about specific things the Lord lays on your heart.
6. Cultivate the mental habit of “flash prayer” (Frank Laubach) where you seek to be aware of the Lord’s presence in all you do.
