from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

(3) Phil. 2.17 – Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

e. The measure of true greatness is the position of subordination and servanthood for others.

(1) Matt. 20.26-27 – It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, [27] and whoever would be first among you must be your slave. (2) Mark 10.43-44 – But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, [44] and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. (3) Luke 22.26-27 – But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. [27] For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves. (4) Phil. 2.8-11 – He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. [9] Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, [10] so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
