(2) Heb. 7.25 – Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

2. Ask God to search your heart ( true self-examination), Ps. 139.23-24 – Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! [24] And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

a. God does the proving and the trying, Ps. 26.2 – Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind.

b. The heart is too deceitful for us to plumb its depths.

(1) Jer. 20.12 – O Lord of hosts, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you have I committed my cause. (2) Jer. 17.9-10 – The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? [10] “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” c. We must take care not to allow our heart to be led astray, leading us to backslide from the Lord, Heb. 3.12 – Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
