with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. [21] For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

4. We must set aside personal time to praise and worship God in singing, with thanksgiving.

a. Our duty while we have life, Ps. 104.33-34 – I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. [34] May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.

b. With discipline and regularity, Ps. 119.164 – Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous rules.

c. With an expectation to experience the presence of God and hear his voice, Isa. 50.4-5 – The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. [5] The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward. d. In unbroken predisposition, inviting others to join our joyful praise, Ps. 34.1-3 – I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. [2] My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. [3] Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!

5. With a resolve to give God his due, regardless of feelings, or outward show, or fanfare, Heb. 13.15 – Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.
