for the hope that is in you; [16] yet do it with gentle ness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
c. As his people, we will not be put to shame as we testify in life and word of Christ and his Kingdom, Ps. 119.46 – I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame.
d. The high standard of providing a compelling testimony to the world of our true identity in Christ, Phil. 2.14-16 – Do all things without grumbling or questioning, [15] that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, [16] holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
Prov. 4.18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
IV. Conclusion
I go through life as a transient on his way to eternity, made in the image of God but with that image debased, needing to be taught how to meditate, to worship, to think (Donald Coggan).

a. Whether in life or death, we desire to please our Lord, 2 Cor. 5.9 – So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.
