you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith.

1. The Problem : confusing our own disciplined lifestyle with the very place and position we have with God apart from Christ
2. The Remedy : recognizing that the only basis of authentic relationship with God is rooted in our faith in Christ; our obedience and discipline flow from our position in Christ out of gratitude and love.
a. Col. 2.6-7 – Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, [7] rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

c. 1 Cor. 1.30 – He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom and our righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
d. 1 John 5.11-12 – And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
