A Sojourner's Quest

9 2 / A S O J O U R N E R ’ S Q U E S T

Jesus is the Prostitute - to remove from danger and befriend her. Jesus is the Prisoner - to be visited. Jesus is the Old - to be served. To me Jesus is my God, Jesus is my Spouse, Jesus is my Life,

Jesus is my only Love, Jesus is my All in All, Jesus is my Everything. Amen.

For Those in Need

Relieve and comfort, O Lord, all the persecuted and afflicted; speak peace to troubled consciences; strengthen the weak; confirm the strong; instruct the ignorant; deliver the oppressed from him that spoileth him; and relieve the needy that hath no helper; and bring us all, by the waters of comfort and in the ways of righteousness, to the kingdom of rest and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

~ Jeremy Taylor, A.D. 1613. S. E. Fox. A Chain of Prayer across the Ages . p. 184.

O blessed Lord, you ministered to all who came to you: Look with compassion upon all who through addiction have lost their health and freedom. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy; remove from them the fears that beset them; strengthen them in the work of their recovery; and to those who care for them, give patient understanding and persevering love. Amen.

~ The Book of Common Prayer . p. 831.

We beseech Thee, Lord and Master, to be our help and succour. Save those who are in tribulation; have mercy on the lonely; lift up the fallen; show Thyself unto the needy; heal the ungodly; convert the wanderers of Thy people; feed the hungry; raise up the weak; comfort the faint-hearted. Let all the peoples know that Thou art God alone, and Jesus Christ is Thy Son, and we are Thy people and the sheep of Thy pasture; for the sake of Christ Jesus. Amen.

~ St. Clement of Rome, A.D. 95. S. E. Fox. A Chain of Prayer across the Ages . p. 86.
