Plot

Introduction and Rising Action 1. Magi (wise men) from the East arrive in Jerusalem seeking the newborn king of the Jews. They observed his star rising and came to worship him. 2. King Herod is greatly troubled by the news and calls a secret meeting with the Magi. 3. He sends them on to Bethlehem but asks them to report back to him on where they find the child. Climax 4. The Magi go to Bethlehem and the star they are following leads them directly to the house where Mary and Jesus are. 5. They kneel before Jesus and give him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Falling Action and Resolution 6. The Magi are warned in a dream not to return to Herod, so they leave Bethlehem return to their homeland without going back through Jerusalem.
