Climax 3. The tempter comes to Jesus and gives him three temptations. Each time Jesus responds with Scripture. 4. He tempts Jesus to turn stones into bread. Jesus responds that he lives not by bread alone, but by the Word of God. 5. Satan tempts Jesus to throw himself off the pinnacle of the temple to see if the angels will catch him. Jesus refuses to put God to the test. 6. Satan then takes Jesus to high mountain and tempts him with authority over all the nations of the world, if only Jesus will worship him. Jesus responds that he will worship and serve only the Lord.

Falling Action and Resolution 7. The devil leaves Jesus and the angels attend to him.
