Plot

Introduction and Rising Action 1. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain to be alone. 2. When they get up there, Jesus’s face and clothes are transfigured and begin to shine brightly. Climax 3. Moses and Elijah appear with Jesus, speaking with him. 4. Peter suggests that they build three tents on the mountain. 5. As he is saying this, a bright cloud envelops them and the voice of the Father tells them to listen to Jesus, his beloved Son. Falling Action and Resolution 6. The disciples fall on their faces terrified. 7. When they look up again, they see only Jesus standing there.

Moses’s Shining Face, Exodus 34.29 As Moses’s face shone when he had been on the mountain with the Lord, so Jesus’s face shines on the mountain of transfiguration.
