Plot
Introduction and Rising Action 1. A lawyer who wants to justify himself, ask Jesus what he must do to fulfill the command to love his neighbor and inherit eternal life. 2. In response, Jesus tells him a parable. Climax (The Parable) 3. A man is traveling to Jerusalem when he is robbed, beaten, and left for dead. 4. Both a priest and Levite pass by and do not help the man. 5. A despised Samaritan passes by and helps the man. He bandages his wounds, brings him to an inn, and pays for the man to stay while he heals. Falling Action and Resolution 6. Jesus asks the lawyer who fulfilled the commandment to love one’s neighbor. 7. When the lawyer indicates that it is the Samaritan, Jesus commands him to go and do likewise.
