Plot

Introduction and Rising Action 1. The Lord calls Abraham to sacrifice his promised son, Isaac. 2. Abraham loads all the supplies for the sacrifice and sets out with Isaac and two servants. 3. Abraham and Isaac leave the servants and journey to the mountain alone for the sacrifice. 4. As they walk Isaac notices that they have not brought an animal for the sacrifice. Climax 5. In obedience to the Lord, Abraham prepares to sacrifice Isaac, even taking the knife in his hand to kill the boy. 6. The Angel of the Lord intervenes and tells Abraham not to kill Isaac. Falling Action and Resolution 7. Because of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son, the Lord affirms that he will absolutely fulfill his promise to bless Abraham and make him a great nation.
