Plot

Introduction and Rising Action 1. After Israel left Sinai, the Lord led his people all the way to the border of Canaan, to an area called Kadesh-Barnea. 2. The Lord commands Moses to send a team of spies to see how good the land is, and what sort of people live in it. The report on the quality of the land is very positive. The produce they bring back to the camp is amazing. 3. The spies also see numerous large and strong people. They fear that Israel will not be able to defeat them in battle. Climax 4. Two of the spies, Caleb and Joshua, try to persuade the people to trust the Lord and to not be afraid. 5. The nation refuses to enter the land and take it. Falling Action and Resolution 6. They hatch a plan to choose a new leader and return to Egypt. 7. The whole congregation of the people threatens to kill Moses, Caleb, and Joshua.
