Plot
Introduction and Rising Action 1. Israel camps near Jericho and prepares to attack it. 2. The commander of the Lord’s army meets with Joshua to reassure him that God is indeed with his people. 3. Jericho is protected by stone walls that were high and thick. It would be very difficult for an invading army to take such a city. Climax 4. The Lord tells the people to march around the city for seven days. 5. Israel obeys the plan laid out by the Lord and, on the seventh day, the great walls of Jericho come crashing down. Falling Action and Resolution 6. The Lord also commands that Rahab the prostitute be spared from the destruction of the city because of her help for the spies Joshua had sent (See Joshua 2 for this story).
