C. How to draw out a biblical principle
1. Study your passage thoroughly, observing the details and getting in touch with the meaning in “their world.”
2. Look for the central teachings or ideas expressed in the text.

3. State your principle(s) in simple declarative form: those called to the ministry are permitted to make their livelihood through the ministry.
4. State it in a few words .
5. Put it in a statement or proverb form .
6. Use the clearest, simplest language you can.
7. Make sure that your statement:
a. Summarizes your study findings : don’t do a thorough and careful job in Step One and then ignore your results when drawing a principle.
b. Expresses the meaning of the passage: gets at the core of the text’s message
