Afterword Now that we have sat down with mothers and fathers of the faith to talk about money and poverty, we have a broader view of Christian mission among the poor. We see that the Gospel of Jesus Christ not only saves souls but also affects people’s physical situations. The Gospel doesn’t just change hearts; it changes society. The message of Jesus brings both personal spiritual freedom and liberation from bondage. There are many lessons to be learned from the thinkers in this volume. I’d like to draw your attention to three main points: the Gospel is holistic; the Gospel includes justice and charity; the Gospel brings simplicity and trust. The Gospel Is Holistic The word gospel means good news . The good news of Jesus’ incarnation, death, burial, resurrection, and return is that God is reconciling all creation to himself (Col 1:20). God’s plan for creation (Gen 1; 2) is restored in the New Creation (Rev 21; 22). In the in-between times that we
