Continuing the Conversation

Many thanks to the translators and publishers who have allowed me to use these ancient and contemporary texts. For the public domain texts translated in Victorian English, I have updated the pronouns (e.g. “thou” to “you”) and changed the verbal forms (e.g. “giveth” to “gives”). I have also updated the writing style in the readings from the Didache , Clement, Benedict, and Aquinas as the versions available in the public domain contain outdated wording. The rest of the readings are unchanged from the translation listed except for the rare occasion when I have substituted a word in brackets. I have slightly abridged most readings to keep this reader to a reasonable length. Where abridged, the text contains an ellipsis ( . . . ).
