3. Don’t marvel when you face trials; remember, all your fellow workers are facing the same difficulties and challenges, too, 1 Pet. 5:9. B. Planning is important, but plans will always need updating. 1. Planning produces freshness, but plans will often grow stale. 2. Planning forces us to respect the current situation (i.e., “to look again, to consider anew), while allegiance to old plans may or may not now be relevant. 3. Planning opens you up to dialogue, but commitment to old plans may freeze you into commitments in pursuing bad directions. C. Flexibility ensures successful execution 1. Walk in the Spirit: let everything you do be informed by an openness to the Spirit’s word and prompting, Gal. 5:16. 2. Quench not the Spirit: do not refuse the Holy Spirit’s instruction and leading through the Word, through others, and through circumstances, 1 Thess. 5:19. 3. Be led by the Spirit: act on what the Holy Spirit tells you, promptly and completely, Rom. 8:14.
