Mere Missions

God’s righteousness, “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness” (Isa. 61. 10a). God’s love is seeking out the rebels and inviting them to submit themselves to his reign that he might be their Father and their God. A peace treaty, through Jesus Christ, has been placed on the table of our hearts ready for any-and-all to be signed. This is good news, but it’s all contingent upon the next “P” – The Command of God . 4. Priority: The Command of God The nature of Christian missions is one of emergency. It’s not about tomorrow but about today (2 Cor. 6.1-2). In this conflict of kingdoms there are sides. Everyone must decide and join a side. This is the priority. This is the command of God. Everyone is to decide what to do with God’s loving invitation in Jesus Christ. Choose you this day which side you’re on (Josh. 24.14-15; Exod. 32.26). Jesus is the only way to peace with God the Father; He is the one and only truth leading to reconciliation with God the Father; He is the only one to bring life, life abundantly and eternal, with God the Father – “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’ ” (John 14.6). Those who believe in God’s plan of salvation and turn (repent) in obedient faith in the Lord Jesus will be saved (Mark 1.14-15; Rom. 10.9-10; 1 John 1.9; Acts 2.38; 3.19; 2 Cor. 7.9-10; John 6.40). Those who do not believe, remain sinners in the hands of an angry God. God’s love has been demonstrated to us that while we were still sinners, rebels, enemies of the God’s kingdom rule and reign, Jesus willingly came to this enemy occupied world of corruption and bondage, and, died upon a cross to take God’s wrath upon Himself rather having God’s wrath rightfully dispensed upon us
