the Story of God so that leaders are equipped, and movements empowered to expand and advance His Kingdom around the world. 2. Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness. It was said to me during my early years of missions, “Are you holy enough for the task.” Yes, holiness is to be set apart by God. It is His calling and work and yet Paul the Apostle wrote to the Corinthians, “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God” (2 Cor. 7.1). The Spirit of the Lord will not use an unholy, undisciplined vessel for His purposes. This is not a discipline for salvation. Our salvation is solely founded on Christ alone, our Cornerstone. We build upon this foundation to be available and ready to the Lord of the Harvest for honorable service. The spiritual disciplines throughout Church history have assisted all disciples in cleansing themselves from every defilement of body and spirit. It is a life-long discipline of practicing fervently and regularly the personal and corporate disciplines. Here is a list that I have implemented in my life of godliness which has prepared me for the daily call of missions: Prayer, Meditate on God’s Word, Fasting, Worship, Simplicity, Giving. There are other disciplines that saints and those engaged in missions have implemented into their life. Whatever you chose, it is to lead you into, “bringing holiness to completion” to be a vessel of honorable use that the Lord can use for missions and mission.
