Ripe for Harvest

130 • R IPE FOR H ARVEST

A. We have been set free in Christ in order to serve God and to glorify Him with creativity and excellence in all that we do and say.

1 Pet. 2.16 (ESV) – Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.

Col. 3.17 (ESV) – And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Col. 3.23 (ESV) – Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.

1 Pet. 4.11 (ESV) – whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies – in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Cor. 10.31 (ESV) – So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1. We have been set free in Christ in order to become Christlike in our characters, and not to become addicted to sin, or licensed for sin. 1 Cor. 6.12 (ESV) – “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be enslaved by anything. 1 Cor. 10.23 (ESV) – “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.

2. We have been set free in Christ in order to be led by the Holy Spirit of God, and not follow the desires of our sin nature.

Gal. 5.16-18 (ESV) – But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
