Seminar Group Discussion 1. Why is it necessary to establish clear criteria as soon as possible on what “successful transition” means before we get to the close of our church planting efforts? What is the danger of being unclear in our expectations of the planted assembly will be, especially among the people making up the new church? 2. What are the key criteria for declaring a congregation independent, i.e., able to function on its own without the support of outside help? 3. How does the notion of transition change if the church plant team represents the nucleus of the new church? How ought such a team, then, view the phase of transition? 4. Why is it absolutely necessary for a church to be integrated with other churches and associations from the start of the church planting effort? How have you ensured such connection with your own church plant?
