Seeing the Big Picture: Establishing Context Exercise Instructions

Good decisions are made in the proper context. We understand the future in light of the past.

I. Please read “A Call to An Ancient Evangelical Future” (located in this section) and discuss the implications of this for church planting

II. Have each team member comment briefly about the following questions:

A. Where were you born, and what was life like for you growing up?

B. How were you “reborn,” i.e., how did you come to Christ, and what has it been like for you “growing up” spiritually?

C. What talents, gifts, promises, or blessings has God supplied you with for this church plant effort?

D. What do you believe you’ll need to trust God for most during this church plant effort?

III. Complete a 1-2 page history of your church plant team.

A. How team formed.

B. How target area chosen.

C. Read “Church Plant Models” (located in this section) and discuss/answer the question: What expression and model of church do we feel called to plant.

D. Demographic information.

E. Resources available (peoples, places, things).
