In the midst of your travels, on your job, in your life, have you heard and responded to the call of God in Jesus Christ? Have you “immediately left all, and followed him” as the pair of brothers did? If you listen, you will hear him give you the same sovereignWord of command he gave to them. His promise is ever sure: “Followme, and I will make you fishers of men.” You no longer will live for yourself, but will live for his glory, and become a witness to others of his great and glorious salvation. Respond to his Word, become his disciple, give prompt obedience to his Word that calls you to himself, and that calls you to discipleship. After reciting and/or singing the Nicene Creed (located in the Appendix), pray the following prayers: Eternal God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we ask that your Son, the Living Lord, speak a word that would call us to you, that calls us to be your people and would sustain us with the power of your Spirit. We are called to discipleship, to community, to freedom, and to mission. Allow your holy and eternal Word to be heard in our midst, and give us the courage and passion to follow that Word with all our hearts, to serve you with joy, to persevere in the will of God, to please your heart and to bring you glory in the Church. Thank you for the Word that calls us to yourself. In Jesus Name, Amen. We give thanks to Thee, Lord God Almighty, that Thou hast revived us through Thy heavenly gift. We pray that by Thy mercy we may attain to a firm faith in Thee and a fervent love for one another through Jesus Christ Thy Son our Lord. Amen.
