III. God’s Word Convinces Us of the Truth through the Witness of the Prophets and Apostles, God’s Inspired Messengers of the Truth. God’s Revelation of the Word Has Been Communicated through the Prophets, through Jesus Christ, and through His Appointed Messengers, His Apostles.

A. God spoke in times past through the prophets .

1. God spoke through the prophets to his chosen people, Heb. 1.1.

2. God’s speaking through the prophets contained the master outline of his intent to save humankind, 1 Pet. 1.10-12.

B. God has spoken to the world perfectly and finally through Jesus Christ .

1. Jesus is God’s final revelation to humankind, Heb. 1.2.

2. Jesus alone is the sole revealer of the Father’s glory, John 1.18.

3. No other source of revelation is as sufficient as Christ, Col. 2.8-10.

C. Jesus entrusted his authoritative message of hope to the Apostles .

1. Directly chosen to be with Christ and to preach in his name, Mark 3.13-15
