Mentoring Part I: Redemptive Poverty Work

Your first session will be an orientation. This is part of the class requirements for the students, and attendance is mandatory. In this session you will provide the expectations of the class, the grading policy, when assignments are due, and how quizzes will be administered, etc. If this is an online course using World Impact U (WIU), you will also orient the students to WIU, how to answer forum questions, and how to submit assignments. There are also two videos to show the class during this session: • An Opportunity to Learn Redemptive Poverty, Dr. Don Davis • The Dirty Little Secret of Poverty Work , Dr. Alvin Sanders Here are some suggestions as to what to cover in this first session: Welcome 1. Open in prayer. 2. Provide your full name and Email address so that the students know how to reach you. 3. Remind the students that they should already have copies of the books: • Redemptive Poverty Work , Dr. Alvin Sanders • Uncommon Church: Community Transformation for the Common Good , Dr. Alvin Sanders 4. Allow students to introduce themselves, their ministry, and what they hope to get out of the class.
