II. RedemptiveWork in the Bible Characteristics of Redemptive Poverty Work: • Ethical empowerment

& 3 page 55 Outline Point II

• Creative restoration through sacrifice • God is bigger than the circumstances. • Poverty is a condition, not an identity. • Walk by faith while rearranging human systemic power. 1. Ethical empowerment • I sacrifice, you win. It matters how we do things. It matters how people respond. • It’s not just about us, it’s not just about them, it’s about working together collaboratively so that God can receive and get all the glory. 2. Creative restoration through sacrifice • The pattern that Christ used to redeem us. • Because of what Jesus has done for us, we want to do so for others. • You are doing this and trying to work to make the situation better for people who live in a condition of poverty whether it benefits you or not. You are going to sacrifice and try to make their lives better, just like what Christ has done for the entire world. 3. God is bigger than the circumstances. • This is obvious but easily forgettable. • God is bigger than the circumstances that we see, and God is big in spite of the circumstances.
