Mentoring Parts II and III: The Cornerstone Curriculum

• First, read carefully the Introduction of the curriculum found on page 11, and browse through the Mentor’s Guide in order to gain an understanding of the content that will be covered in the course. The Student’s Workbook is identical to your Mentor’s Guide. Your guide, however, also contains a section of additional material and resources for each lesson, called Mentor’s Notes . References to these instructions are indicated by a symbol in the margin: & . The Unit Exam and Answer Key can be found on the TUMI Satellite Gateway. (This is available to all approved satellites.) • Second, you are strongly encouraged to view the teaching on both DVDs prior to the beginning of the course. • Third, you should read any assigned readings associated with the curriculum, whether textbooks, articles or appendices. • Fourth, it may be helpful to review the key theological themes associated with the course by using Bible dictionaries, theological dictionaries, and commentaries to refresh your familiarity with major topics covered in the curriculum. • Fifth, please know that the students are not tested on the reading assignments . These are given to help the students get a fuller understanding of what the lesson is teaching, but it is not required that your students be excellent readers to understand what is being taught. For those of you who are receiving this curriculum in any translation other than English, the required reading might not be available in your language. Please select a book or two that is available in your language – one that you think best represents what is being taught in this curriculum – and assign that to your students instead. • Finally, begin to think about key questions and areas of ministry training that you would like to explore with students in light of the content that is being covered.

Before the Course Begins

Prior to each lesson, you should once again watch the teaching content that is found on the DVD for that class session, and then create a Contact and Connection section for this lesson.
