Explore the definition, purpose, elements, and benefits of the Three-Step Model through the questions below. Your focus here ought to be helping your students master the critical claims and understandings associated with the model. Also, make the focus on the discussion their analysis of the material in light of the lesson aims presented at the beginning of the lesson. Of course, pay attention to your time issues, and concentrate upon those questions below and those posed by your students which get at the core of the material. Make certain, too, that you watch for any tangents which may lead you from rehearsing the critical facts and main points associated with understanding the rationale of the Three-Step Model of biblical interpretation. Challenge the students to apply the Word of God in community, in their company together as learners, as leaders, and as friends. The power of corporate prayer to touch the heart of the Lord and move his hand to work is well documented throughout Scripture, and is therefore a critical element in the application of the Word to our lives. Never give the impression during this section that you do this through formality and familiarity alone. Rather, encourage the students to fervently and wholeheartedly make their requests known to God, and to expect him to work as they, two or three together, are gathered in his name to pray (Matt. 18.20).
