LESSON 4 | THE NT WITNESS TO CHRIST AND HIS KINGDOM: THE MESSIAH OPPOSED / 171

If anything is clear from the teaching of the Scriptures, many of the fights of the believer are done in a group; the enemy does not merely fight me, rather, he fights us. For your support, answerability, and growth, you need the prayers and counsel of others engaged in the same battle and struggle you face, even as they face the same (1 Pet. 5.8-10). Do not hesitate to ask believers whom you trust to pray specifically for you in the areas you need God’s strengthening and aid. God will hear and answer the prayers of his believing children (James 5.16). Seek the face of the Lord together for his strength and power, and do not be discouraged; he knows we have need of him and his supply (Phil. 4.13).

In our next lesson, The Kingdom of God: God’s Reign Inaugurated , we will explore God’s intent to eradicate all disobedience and rebellion as a result of the Fall – God becomes a Warrior in this fallen realm. Jesus of Nazareth is the Kingdom’s presence realized, with God’s reign demonstrated in his incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension. The Story of the Kingdom is the story of Jesus, and God’s intent is to bring the world back under his rule in him. We praise God for his kingdom story, and your interest as a student of his Holy Word!
