LESSON 2 | FOUNDATIONS OF CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP: THE CHRISTIAN LEADER AS PASTOR / 313
Whether or not God has called you to the pastorate, your understanding of this vital role of Christian leadership will affect every area of your own life and ministry through your church. You are called to be pastoral in terms of offering care and love to those to whom you minister, and through your own application of these truths, God may desire to change and/or alter your ministry approach. How has the Holy Spirit been influencing your own judgments about the pastorate as you studied this material? Have you sensed any calling from the Lord regarding your own appointment to this high ministry? What do you believe the Lord is specifically calling you to do right now, if anything, about these truths? Set aside good time this week to review these truths, and rethink your own understanding of the pastoral ministry. Also, as you consider your ministry project for this unit, you can possibly use it to connect to these truths in a practical way. Seek the face of God for insight, and come back next week ready to share your insights with the other learners in your class. If for any reason you need spiritual direction for unanswered questions and/or unresolved issues in this lesson, seek the Lord’s guidance about getting with your own pastor, spiritual supervisor, or leader to get further clarification. Also, be open to ask your fellow students to lift up your particular requests to God. Of course, know that your instructor is extremely open to discussing related questions to Christian leadership, the pastorate, or related questions with you, whatever they are related to the materials in this lesson. The more open you are to the Lord’s counsel through his people the better you will be led to discover his particular insights and will for you. Be open to God and allow him to lead you as he determines.
