concept of being world Christians , striving to think globally but act locally. In light of the global need for justice and mercy, we will look at the issues of poverty and oppression and the issue of protecting the environment. As representatives of Christ and his Kingdom, we must be aware of and engage with clarity the great issues of our time, and lead our congregations to act consistent with our calling to be salt and light in our day and time. We will close our discussion by concentrating on what may be the central issue of the 20th century: managing difference and diversity in a world that is more and more fueled by bigotry and hatred among people. We will investigate the power of malice in the modern world, and its tragic end in violence and war that results in loss of life and destruction of property. We will explore three Christian approaches to mass violence and war, and end this module with our own passionate plea for a dynamic ministry of Christian peacemaking. As representatives of the Kingdom, we must strive to do justice and love mercy in the midst of a world torn by malice, vengeance, and disunity. Only in Christ can we pursue a peace that is authentic and that will last.
