1. Our primary responsibility for demonstrating mercy and grace is with members of the Christian community, but we ought to never limit our love only to the saved.

2. We are to cherish the saint and sinner both, Isa. 58.10.

3. Remember that we ought to give as we would have others give unto us.

4. No roadmap exists to know how precisely to care with limited resources; there is absolutely no substitute for the leading and filling of the Holy Spirit.

2

B. Expect Christians to spontaneously give and serve, but exhort them to follow the example of Christ in selfless sacrifice.

Heb. 10.23-25 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. [24] And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, [25] not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

1. Every one that loves is born of God and knows God, 1 John 4.7-8.

2. We are equally charged to provoke one another to good works and deeds.

3. The Holy Spirit will lead individuals to give and serve purely from the burdens and promptings from within believer’s hearts, Gal. 5.16.

4. We are to challenge believers to give and serve with zeal and passion, to fulfill the good works God has called them to do, Eph. 2.10; Titus 2.14.
