Evangel Church Planter Assessment Pre-Evangel Team Leader Process Overview

I. Enlistment: Steps to accepting a potential church plant team at your Evangel School

A. Host interview with potential Church Planter. Evangel Deans are responsible to interview and do an initial evaluation of every church planter prior to attending Evangel. The Evangel Church Plant School should be the final tool of assessment, and as such the goal should be for all teams that attend the school to complete the school as commissioned teams with a charter. B. Complete Evangel Church Planter Assessment. This one-page assessment is best used as a 360 review tool. One copy is given to the church plant team leader, one copy to the spouse, and one copy to the church planter’s pastor. The assessments are scored by the Evangel Dean. This resource is especially targeted to help church planters working among the poor identify areas of strength and potential areas of growth. C. Submit and receive Pastor’s Reference form to/from the applicant’s pastor. Every Church Planter is required to have at least one pastoral reference in order to bring a team to Evangel Church Plant School.

D. Interview the Pastor on the applicant. There are several objectives for this interview:

1. Introduce yourself, the name of your Evangel School, and affirm the pastor’s recommendation.

2. Share the objectives of the Evangel School of Urban Church Planting (from Dean Handbook).

3. Ask if there is anything else he/she would like to share about the applicant.

4. Share the excitement we have to equip (person’s name) to establish a new church for the glory of God.

5. Ask the pastor to close the time in prayer.
