On a Super Roll

As you visit a neighboring prison in your region and share the Lord with the inmates, you see a brother with a remarkable gift of sharing the Lord, leading many individuals to the Lord through the Gospel. Yet, this dear brother seems to have no sense whatever of the need to follow up or incorporate these new converts into a body of believers. When others mentioned this omission to him, he seemed to have had little or no concern about the fate of these newborns in Christ, and suggested that his gift is to ensure their presence in the Kingdom as an evangelist , and others with different gifts are to ensure their growth and strength. What, if anything, is wrong with this brother’s conception of evangelism that it includes no forethought of the health of his spiritual offspring? A dear brother has recently come to the Lord after many months of prayer and sharing the Scriptures with him. A person of a fairly notorious background filled with distrust and animosity, the Lord warmed his heart to the Lord sometime last month, and he has been hungry for the Lord ever since. He refuses, however, to come to church and fellowship with other Christians. He views his new found faith as a personal private decision, his own individual religion that has little or nothing to do with what others think and do. He says he has had some bad experiences at church before, and he is not anxious now to be baptized or hang out with “those folks.” He suggests, “Meeting with you like this is great, but I don’t know about “I’ll Do That Later.”
