C. “And use their gifts for ministry and service”
1. Every Christian is given special gifts to be used in ministry, 1 Cor. 12.4-7.
2. Every member of the body of Christ has a role to play for the upbuilding of the body, 1 Pet. 4.10-11.
3. God wants every Christian to be fruitful and to contribute to the fulfillment of the Great Commandment and Great Commission in the context of a local assembly of believers .
a. The Great Commandment: new Christians bear fruit as they learn to love God with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength, and their neighbor as themselves, Matt. 22.37-40 (cf. the new commandment of John 13.34-35).

b. The Great Commission: new Christians bear fruit as they learn to use their gifts to make disciples of Jesus Christ, Matt. 28.19-20.
4. Fruitfulness is the second major goal of follow-up: new Christians were created unto good works, loving service and bold witness of the Gospel.
