Conclusion
» The key to successful urban evangelism is following up new Christians by incorporating them into a local assembly of believers as quickly as possible. » To follow up new believers in Christ consists of “incorporating new converts into the family of God so they can be equipped to grow in Christ and use their gifts for ministry.” This is for the purpose of maturity (growing up in Christ) and fruitfulness (reproduction in Christ by multiplying disciples). » Following up new converts is essential because new Christians are vulnerable to attack from the enemy, they need to be reoriented to their new faith in Christ, and they need immediate parental care as little newborns in Christ. » The New Testament provides five ways that the apostles followed up new converts in Christ, all of which we can still do today. We can prevail for them in intercessory prayer, provide immediate personal contact with them, send personal representatives for encouragement and challenge, maintain regular personal correspondence with them, and ensure that they have solid spiritual leaders over them.

Please take as much time as you have available to answer these and other questions on the subject of follow-up and incorporating new believers into the Church. Nothing is as critical for effective evangelism as making provision for the ongoing well being and nurture of those who respond in faith to the Gospel, whether publicly or privately. Remember, be clear and concise in your answers, and where possible, support with Scripture!
