1 Pet. 2.9-10 - But you are a chosen race , a royal priesthood , a holy nation , a people for his own possession, that you [that is, you all ] may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. [10] Once you were not a people , but now you are God’s people ; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
The Ministry Project is an important part of the module’s expectations, and your challenge to the students to be diligent and creative here can go a long way in helping the students understand the importance of being doers of the Word of God and not hearers only (cf. James 1.22-25). Their ability to select a setting where they can apply and share the insights that they have learned in this study reflects much on their understanding of it . Again, the practical details here are important. Make sure that each student informs you in writing of what they intend to do in their project, and sign off on it before they do it . Little checkpoints like this can be helpful in underscoring in the minds of the students the need to be Ezra-like in all of their study of the Word of God. Ezra offers us a clear and adaptable approach to the Word of God that is applicable to “scribes of the Kingdom” today, (cf. Ezra 7:10 - For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel). Your work as an instructor and grader begins in earnest now. Make certain that you have secured from all your students the necessary commitments for the ministry projects, exegetical projects, and other data together as this will be important for you to determine the student’s overall grade. Again, your discretion regarding late work can easily determine whether you dock students of points, resulting in letter grade changes, or give students an “Incomplete” until the work is finished. Whatever manner you adopt as your standard regarding the lateness of the work of the students, please remember that our courses are not primarily about the grades that students receive, but the spiritual nourishment and training they receive
