2. Belief in Jesus’ death and resurrection is made unto righteousness.
Conclusion
» The Gospel (i.e., Good News) of Christ is known by a number of names in the New Testament, all of which point to God’s offer of redemption and deliverance in the person of Jesus Christ. » Evangelism is seen in Scripture both (and primarily as) proclaiming the message of salvation in Christ and demonstrating that message through our love and service to others. » Romans 10.9-10 provides a clear, simple, and powerful understanding of the message of the Gospel as confession of Jesus’ lordship and faith in his resurrection from the dead. Please take as much time as you have available to answer these and other questions brought out in the video teaching segment. Understanding the essential content of the Gospel is the first and perhaps most significant step in sharing the Good News effectively with those who have neither heard nor understood God’s offer of redemption in Jesus. Be clear and concise in your answers, and where possible, support with Scripture! 1. List three of the various names given to the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ by the authors of the New Testament. In what way is the Gospel central to the Church’s very identity and ministry? 2. What is the significance of the Gospel’s focus upon the person and work of Jesus Christ? 3. What is the role of the demonstration of works of love and service to the Gospel? Is such demonstration necessary to give a complete understanding of the Good News itself? Why or why not? 4. In what way does the unity of the Church actually enable people to know that our Gospel offer in Christ is legitimate and trustworthy? 5. In what ways does the existence of a submitted, obedient community of believers actually aid in the proclamation of the Gospel message to others?
