Conclusion
» Evangelism is not merely talking and presenting, it is displaying and showing. » Evangelism begins with our own quality of life and testimony, our walk before God, our family, our neighbors, and our community.
Please take as much time as you have available to answer these and other questions on the relationship of evangelism to one’s own character and credibility. Be clear and concise in your answers, and where possible, support with Scripture! 1. Why is it necessary for someone to be a follower of Christ before they become an effective evangelist for Christ ? 2. How is providing a personal example to others an integral part of the actual evangelistic task? How does the lifestyle of the evangelist reflect either positively or negatively upon the meaning of the Gospel itself? 3. Why can’t one’s ministry ever exceed the bounds of their own depth and maturity in Christ? Is this so . . . can we share more than we actually are in our personal lives? Explain your answer. 4. Why is the display of a transformed life so critical for urban evangelism and outreach? 5. What should our response be to those who desire to minister in Christ’s name but whose family relationships are fractured and broken? Are there limits in this, and if so, what are they? 6. Why does the New Testament place such importance on the need for a compelling testimony in one’s life for those who represent the good news of the Kingdom? 7. The Bible places great emphasis on maintaining a credible testimony with those who are outsiders as we bear witness to Christ. Why should we seek to maintain an honorable reputation before those who don’t even know the Lord–why is that important to evangelism? 8. Is a zeal for good works, especially among the poor and despised, an important element in evangelism in the city? Why or why not?
