Heb. 10.24-25 - And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, [25] not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. James 4.11 - Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. James 5.9 - Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. James 5.16 - Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 1 Pet. 1.22 - Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart. 1 Pet. 4.8-10 - Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. [9] Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. [10] As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. 1 John 3.11 - For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 1 John 3.23 - And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Our focus on this lessons is underscoring this abundant NT data with a clear understanding that discipleship occurs in the context of the local church, and that all of us, in one way or another, can play a real and significant part as model, mentor, and friend to new and growing believers. This is the heart and soul of this lesson, and you ought to do all you can to help the students recontextualize in their minds the place where follow-up and discipleship occurs. All too often the literature on helping new Christians has emphasized the
