In this lesson we examined how the lordship of Jesus Christ conditions and provides meaning to every phase of our work in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. We also looked at the PLANT process of urban church planting, summarized in the three stages of church planting: Evangelizing , Equipping , and Empowering . In our next lesson, we will turn again to evangelism, and speak about how to win urbanites in the context of their circle of influence and family, the principle of oikos, or household evangelism. An oikos is that web of common kinship relationships, friendships, and associations that make up a person’s larger social circle. We will see how revolutionary this concept can be as we strive to make impacts on the lost in the city. Please read the assigned reading, and summarize each reading with no more than a paragraph or two for each. Keep your summary concise and simple; please give your best understanding of what you think was the main point in each of the readings. Do not be overly concerned about giving detail, but rather write out what you consider to be the main point discussed in that section of the book. Please bring these summaries to class next week. (Please see the “Reading Completion Sheet” at the end of this lesson.) stay up on your memorization work, and review carefully the materials from this week in preparation for your upcoming quiz. Again, your quiz next session will concentrate upon the actual video content and outline covered in this lesson . So, make certain that you spend time covering your notes, especially focusing on the main ideas of the lesson.
