B. God is the warrior whose authority in Messiah Jesus has defeated the powers of the devil and the effects of the curse.

1. He has openly disarmed and shamed them through the cross, Col. 2.15.

2. He has granted to his people authority over the evil one by transferring them from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Christ, Col. 1.13.

C. Mission is the display and proclamation of the rule of God in operation in the here and now .

1. Mission is prophesying deliverance to the captives, Rom. 10.9-10.

2. We are set free from the bondage of the enemy in Christ, Heb. 2.14-15; 1 John 3.8; 1 John 4.4.

3. Satan’s infernal rebellion has been put down, but he still has power to deceive and persecute, 1 Pet. 5.8; James 4.7.

4. His doom is sure; nothing can prevent the full restoration of the will of God over all things, Rev. 11.15-18, cf. 15.

D. Making disciples among all nations is advancing the reign of God by testifying to its coming in the person of Jesus of Nazareth!
