B. Elements of a biblical understanding of mission

1. It must be rooted in a clear understanding of God and his purposes for the universe, 2 Tim. 1.8-10.

2. It must relate all the details of history to a single unified whole, Rom. 8.29-30.

3. It must be rooted in the Scriptures themselves, John 5.39-40; Luke 24.44-48.

4. It must be anchored in the person and work of Jesus Christ, Acts 4.12; 1 John 5.11-13.

5. It must take seriously the Bible’s own way of discussing mission: through image, picture, and story.
